I just relocated and cut all my connections, but now when I reassemble everything at home my desktop isn’t recognizing the network drives. I thought I could just disconnect and reconnect, but when I try to map them in Explorer using the wizard it won’t work with just typing \\freenas\backups. It’s strange since my Fire Stick connects to the NAS and it appears on my router. On Windows 7 x64 with FreeNAS 11 it seems fine, but I’m wondering how to make Windows see the SMB shares directly?

It turns out the case matters between \\FREENAS\Backups and \\Freenas\Backups—it works consistently.

I sensed you would figure it out by yourself. Such issues often arise from overlooking minor details that are crucial for success.
