Hey there. A friend came over because his computer wasn't starting properly. Every time it tried to boot, it displayed "CPU Fan Error" and moved him into the BIOS using F1. I looked into a few things—whether he had overclocked, if the fans were blocked, if they were properly connected, and even swapped the fan headers. Eventually, I figured the problem was with his GPU. During startup, the fans spun up to about five seconds before stopping completely. My attempt to fix it was to open his BIOS and boot directly into Windows from there by clicking "Windows." I thought this might help, but it’s not a long-term fix and I’m unsure what else to try. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what might be causing the issue.

CPU fan issue means the fans weren't connected to the CPU header. This isn't a GPU problem. GPU fans typically start spinning quickly at startup, which is normal during their power-on sequence. They won't spin unless the system is under heavy load, and usually not above 60°C.
