Hey everyone, just bought BF4 and started playing multiplayer right away. I didn’t realize it would be so slow at first—still loading when I wrote this. Is it because it’s on my HDD instead of an SSD? The reason is that I also got Titanfall, which would use up too much space together since I only have 160 GB free. What should I do to speed things up?

BF4 loads maps very slowly, often taking over five minutes. I haven’t seen such delays before, especially on a brand-new hard drive. It’s possible the issue lies in cache verification with Origin—try that first to rule out missing files. Edit: Could you tell me what CPU and HDD you’re using?

Get another SSD? It’s not much to do beyond that. Sorry. A quicker CPU would help, but that’s not a huge upgrade given your strong processor. So yeah...

Unfortunately, it isn't your computer causing the issue. BF4 tends to load very slowly. And with a slow internet connection, the problem will only get worse.

Because the hard drive takes longer to load the map. It runs quicker on an SSD.

It's been taking a long time to load, and I'm worried about the performance. If it takes more than a couple of minutes, I might stop playing.

It's disappointing having to replace an SSD since my games won't start and take too long to load.

Titanfall starts quickly, making it possible to transfer Battlefield 4 to your SSD while keeping Titanfall on your HDD.

I updated my previous post. What processor and storage device do you have? I assume a load over 10 minutes with a dual or single-core CPU is typical for BF4 maps. If that happens, it’s likely your HDD or game files are the issue—try moving them to see if loading times improve. @AlmondNoTitties No long waits expected; check the cache files too.

Your system runs an i5 4690K and you're using a WD 1TB HDD with 7200 RPM.
