my other pc's motherboard bios lacks overclocking options, it's running an i7 970 and i'm searching for a cpu overclocking tool for windows 10. i've used xtu but got an error about missing privileges even with admin rights. are there any alternative cpu overclocking programs available for windows 10?

Well there is a reason there are no OC settings in the bios, it cant handle it. If you like any of your hardware on that board I would highly recommend not doing or trying any overclocking on it.

The software OC performs poorly and mainly delivers inconsistent outcomes.

The software OC is weak and mainly yields inconsistent outcomes.
Still, I remain open to using software overclocking since my previous second PC's BIOS lacks such features.

What motherboard are you running? I'm using an Asus TurboV EVO that came with my Asus Rampage 3 Extreme board. I mainly do minor adjustments and revert to the BIOS settings for stability.
