PlayOnLinux and WINE are solid options for switching, but Mint is a better choice overall. I occasionally use it in a VM, and PlayOnLinux complements WINE nicely. (Install the newest releases via the terminal—Synaptic has old, clunky versions... That’s what bothers me most about Linux: the terminal.)

It's not just dual booting, though that's an option. You can run a Windows OS inside a virtual machine created with Virtual Box using a Linux host. The reason might be related to memory usage or other system behavior.
