Windows 10 feels too intrusive with its tracking features. Linux could be a better choice! Running games is possible with WINE, but it may not work smoothly on your system. Check if your hardware supports the necessary drivers for Linux Ubuntu. Your specs (X4 860GHz, RX 470, Gigabyte F2A88XN) should work, but compatibility depends on available support.
You might want to revisit Windows 7. Given your system specs, my advice isn’t just playful.
I’m trying to exit the Windows Universe—it frustrates me with those annoying random resets, and I’m actually looking forward to moving to Linux for coding.
DirectX isn't natively available on Linux by default, though OpenGL and Vulkan provide alternatives. For games with Linux versions, options exist. If you're using DirectX11, success chances are limited, while Wine might handle DirectX 11—though full implementation is still under development. What titles do you enjoy?
Overwatch, CSGO, and Mayyybbeee GTA 5 are popular games. Wine supports them, but I’m okay without GTA 5.
Be warned that many development tools (for coding) can be created and compiled for Linux, but they often don’t work properly there. (For example, the Unity game engine can be built and compiled for Linux, yet you can’t run the Unity editor on Linux because there’s no support.)
If you're not looking for heavy Windows-only tools, you could set up an Unraid setup where you move VMs between Linux and Windows as required. As @deXxterlab97 mentioned, using WINE isn't ideal for gaming.
I understand your point, I’ve thought about it before. If you want to challenge Microsoft, reverting back to Windows 7 works. They push for the latest version to extract more data, but sticking with an older system gives you real influence. (Among many, still a voice) At your random reboots... It comes down to how you set up your Windows. Windows 7, SP1 with certain services and registry changes: *Being active means my PC has run nonstop, never entering hibernate or sleep.*
