It’s feasible to replace Chrome OS with Linux on an older ARM-based Chromebook. However, using it inside an outdated browser raises security concerns since the OS won’t receive updates. The risk depends on how secure your system is otherwise. If you’re comfortable wiping the device and installing Linux from scratch, it can be done without relying on Chrome. For Intel Chromebooks, the process should be straightforward. What are your thoughts?

It's not problematic to use Linux on an ARM Chromebook if you can bypass restrictions. The main challenges stem from trying to modify protected storage sections, and a BIOS that offers very few settings. Solutions exist as long as your device supports unlocking and you have a suitable image for your particular ARM version.
