Two issues in a single day! My Linux Mint 17.3 installation vanished again. I created a bootable USB for Linux Mint 20, but it still showed an "unrecognized hardware error." I switched to version 19.3, which worked, so I moved to that release. This time nothing happened—when I chose the top option without Compatibility Mode, it failed completely. The screen went black. I tried running the ISO in DD mode, which succeeded. I reached the desktop and selected "Install Linux Mint," but after clicking next, I experienced freezing and graphical glitches. Some part of the screen turned into a black-and-white checkerboard, making it impossible to move the mouse. After restarting, I booted into Windows, which functioned properly. Anyone know what's going on? I downloaded all my images from the Linux Mint website using the EvoWise CDN mirror.

I plan to place it on a 30GB drive attached to one of my hard disks.
