Linux Journal, Tails or Tor? NSA keeps an eye on you
Tor acts like wearing a mask in a city center—you maintain your privacy, but in return you become more noticeable. To remain unseen, you must blend in with the crowd.
The five-eyes principle still applies even if GCHQ isn't handling it publicly.
It's true, honestly I still use OS X which isn't significantly better, but I've made efforts to boost its security a bit more. Eventually, I plan to switch to Linux for this platform. Another issue is that I remain dependent on Windows at work, though I do use a VPN most of the time (except when I need to connect remotely to clients due to their security requirements). In reality, the best systems should be based on BSD or Linux, not Unix since OS X falls under that category.
