Tor acts like wearing a mask in a city center—you maintain your privacy, but in return you become more noticeable. To remain unseen, you must blend in with the crowd.

The five-eyes principle still applies even if GCHQ isn't handling it publicly.

The issue lies in how it appears everyone else feels less safe. Perhaps following Edward Snowden’s advice would be wise if the NSA intends to target you.

I always encrypt my devices, I don’t rely on a VPN since I haven’t done anything unlawful, though I’ve checked out Tor. Anyone wanting security should avoid Windows.

It's true, honestly I still use OS X which isn't significantly better, but I've made efforts to boost its security a bit more. Eventually, I plan to switch to Linux for this platform. Another issue is that I remain dependent on Windows at work, though I do use a VPN most of the time (except when I need to connect remotely to clients due to their security requirements). In reality, the best systems should be based on BSD or Linux, not Unix since OS X falls under that category.
