I completed the first and second steps despite receiving some error alerts. It eventually worked, but now updating the update manager displays this message.

I skipped them and kept going... it looks like it’s functioning now. Then I attempted to refresh the update manager, but it threw a few errors. I just brushed it off, thinking it was updating the software inside... thanks!

You altered your apt package system by including software from another distribution or version. (likely due to external factors like Chrome or Discord for a different Ubuntu or Debian release) Be mindful of how Linux package managers work—they’re powerful but tricky. I hope Windows offered something similar, though changing from another distro can cause issues. Once you gain more experience with Linux, you’ll notice problems earlier before they appear in the package list. This situation is understandable; many have faced it. Your questions are appreciated, and the community’s support is valuable—feel free to explore undoing these changes if needed.
