Linux Distro
Linux Distro
Hello, I’m searching for an Ubuntu-based distribution that launches apps quickly—ideally within seconds. This is important for my productivity and work tasks. I’ve tried several distros but still experience delays of 2-3 seconds or longer when opening applications. Please let me know if you have any recommendations or details to share.
Search for distribution options that avoid Snap or similar technologies for your applications. Disable update checks and allow preloading of apps before use. System details: Ubuntu 24.04, i7 processor, NVMe SSD, 64 GB RAM. Suggested software: LibreOffice, Firefox, and others with sub-second performance.
This largely depends on the specific app and your system's hardware, also... I highly doubt your productivity is significantly impacted by apps opening in 2-3 seconds rather than 0. It might be a little annoying but generally you're going to spend a lot more time using programs rather than opening them.
R3 3250U with 9.6GB RAM offers a solid choice for Ubuntu-based systems, Fedora or Arch-based setups, and solo configurations.

Agreed, it made sense. Thanks for explaining. Have a great day!
