It functions only with the newest kernel and driver, and it requires running xserver as root. That’s the issue I aim to resolve. I need access without needing root, while still maintaining full control over my GPU.

He asked about the setup method. It seems he either modified an existing config or created a new one, possibly using the NVIDIA X11 config tool. The relevant file is /etc/X11/mhwd.d/nvidia.conf, and it appears to be necessary for the installation to work.

I included the coolbits feature in the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file. The nvidia-xconfig utility incorporates it into the display, not the device settings.
