You might be able to use your Linux laptop for voiceovers. Since Windows 10 isn’t ideal for audio recording, checking out affordable alternatives like Mac OS isn’t the only option. Your Linux system, Lubuntu, runs on Ubuntu and could work well with recording tools.

The difference in hissing sounds between Windows 10 and Mac OS isn't consistent across all users. Some may notice it more than others depending on usage and settings.

or adjust your preferences. contemporary consumer soundcards, usb microphones, or headsets offer many options to activate such as noise cancellation and similar features, though they often perform poorly in practice. (usually) if your main goal is to record voiceovers, edit them simply, and import into a video editor, audacity works well—it’s available for windows, linux, and mac.

Consider adjusting the sampling rate from 44.1KHz to 48KHz or vice versa. Your earlier laptop sounded noisier at 44.1KHz compared to 48KHz.

Verify that your system supports the microphone or audio devices you plan to use for recordings. Make sure they’re compatible as well. The software mainly manages configurations and settings, while the operating system plays a minimal role in this process.

Various operating systems don’t significantly affect audio quality. The difference usually comes down to your hardware. If you notice a hissing noise, test with another microphone or headset to determine if the issue lies with your sound input device.
