Linux?
Linux?
I intend to use Windows 10 Pro. What about Linux? It seems like a software option, but I don’t see much support for it. You mentioned most operating systems rely on Linux in some way—any suggestions? I’m comfortable with building computers and not new to tech, but this feels confusing. Can I switch between Linux and Windows? The only Linux I know is Hannah Montana Linux, which I won’t use. How do you get Linux? I prefer avoiding downloads from questionable sites.
Linux is a free, open-source OS but isn't ideal for gaming. Try Ubuntu instead.
Linux is an open-source operating system offering alternatives to Windows and macOS. The top choices are Ubuntu and Mint. If you're interested, try installing them in a virtual machine using VirtualBox. Links provided: https://www.virtualbox.org/ and https://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop
Would this add extra load to the processor? You mentioned you have 64GB RAM and an i7-6700K, which should handle it well.
Linux is a free open source operating system with numerous variations (such as Ubuntu, Mint, Redhat...). It’s quite enjoyable to experiment with it and offers many features similar to those found in Windows. However, it receives very limited support from most games and applications. Steam provides some compatibility, but overall its worth exploring. You can easily switch between Windows and Linux through dual booting.
I was thinking about adding more components but ran out of room on the motherboard. I’d consider 128 or 256 if possible. I understand it’s a bit too much, but I don’t mind having extra RAM slots.
I'm not sure about the purpose, but I'm wondering how you plan to utilize all that memory for... thousands of tabs in Chrome.
