Finding ways to resolve issues: To access as root, go to Menu > Configure Dolphin > Services > Download Services > search "root", install the plugin named "Open as Root". Once installed, in any directory you may right-click > Actions > Open as Root Zip files. I use Ark for handling all zip, rar, 7z archives—it works smoothly with drag-and-drop into Dolphin. You can adjust the default program (Right-click file > Properties): Plugins should reside here, within your home folder, not in a root directory: /home/<username>/.config/obs-studio/plugins/. Operating system: I’m not on Manjaro but use Kubuntu with Plasma Desktop. Have a great day The Linux Machine
I truly believe most Linux file managers fall short, BESIDES Dolphin. It's surprising how simple and almost unusable the alternatives I've used are. Still, MacOS feels terrible too, and it's odd that Windows lags behind in handling file conflicts compared to Dolphin.
Dolphin is also my top pick for file manager and KDE app, which is interesting since I don’t really use KDE—mostly favoring pop shell/cosmic plus gnome, budgie, or gnome 2 with compiz back then. Nemo is a solid suggestion if he enjoys Nautilus but needs something more robust.
The point is that he shouldn't need to. Windows as well as most other Linux File Managers support this. With that said, we are supposed to be gaining this feature in the near future. He is probably using Ark, There is a known bug where trying to drag a file out of it will just drag around the file list interface. The bigger issue here is that he had to of known where a plugin folder is to begin with. While it does belong in the user .config directory, someone or something would have had to of told him otherwise. The real issue is that we are spreading bad information rapidly or we are poorly documenting things, I imagine it's a mix of both. Edited November 6, 2021 by Nayr438 I was wrong.
You're correct about needing nautilus-admin. For testing purposes, the only user with open access as root in my small environment is "nemo." I should have noted that Dolphin doesn't allow root execution. That added some misleading information to the discussion.
