I've used this router for nearly a year and faced some odd problems. After switching to gigabit speeds via Wave Broadband, I connected directly to the modem and got 930-980 Mbps. However, with my hardwired setup through the router, speeds drop to 400-600 Mbps. Another router I tried offered around 700-930 Mbps. Are there any particular settings you should check? Let me know if you need more details.

Different routers face various issues. The connection isn't always perfect, and speed drops are common, even noted in some tests—though it might refer more to the router's peak capability than actual loss. You can attempt solutions like turning off MAC address cloning, which helped in my setup (TP-Link Archer). Alternatively, disable other features such as the firewall or similar safety functions. Adjust one setting and run a test.

Consider turning off QoS if available. Certain routers handle QoS through software rather than hardware, which can significantly impact performance.

Certain routers struggle with Gigabit speeds because they can't perform Gigabit NAT. This explains why your speed drops. SmallNetbuilder.com provides data on almost any router model. Their advice might be useful here. The QoS suggestions seem reasonable, but turn them off. If that fails, it likely means the device itself isn't capable of handling the connection.

It's strange how it restricts me, especially since the cheaper model I tried performs better. It's time to search for an alternative router.

I faced the same issue and found a fix. I had 500Mb through Hyperoptic, but it slowed down to 150Mb over Ethernet and WiFi. Turning off Killer Device Prioritisation helped, and since I don’t have any enabled devices, that resolved it.
