Limiting CPU speed on Chrome OS helps manage performance and save battery.
Hello everyone, I'm looking into whether it's possible to set an upper limit on the CPU speed in Chrome OS. I've tried this on a Lenovo Miix 720 with the fan turned off, and on Windows I can restrict the maximum CPU state in the power settings to save battery and manage heat. My previous experience was with overheating issues because the CPU kept boosting and producing too much heat for my passive cooling setup. Thanks!
Usually the CPU needs to slow down before things get too hot; for cooler operation you’d likely have to adjust the settings through the Linux system itself. You might attempt using cpupower-frequency-set.
