The FPS of many games I play is constrained by my monitor's refresh rate. Any solution?

Turn off vsync, that's the sole choice to cap FPS based on your monitor's refresh rate.

i mean simply that the only way to get more fps out of the monitor is to get a faster one. it does not matter if you have a 1000 hz screen. if you want 1100, then you'll need to get one that can do it.
this is something we talk about often here when folks spend crazy money shooting for 1000+ fps, knowing no monitor can handle it so it is all a waste.
if your set-up is pushing too many frames, then go for a higher resolution monitor which will quickly lower what you can get. otherwise, you'll just have to be happy with what you can currently get which is 240.
