I understand you're dealing with a lot of information, but let's simplify it. You had a GTX 4080 Panther with good components and a solid power supply. You ran FurMark and everything worked fine, but when you started the TLOU part 1, you noticed graphics issues. After fixing them, the red VGA status light appeared on your motherboard. When you restarted the PC and rechecked, the GPU was fine again.

The red VGA light usually means a display or motherboard issue, not necessarily your GPU itself. Since you're concerned about something being wrong and want to fix it quickly, check if the light persists after reseating the GPU and power cable. If it stays on, it might point to a faulty display or motherboard component. You should investigate further and consider getting an RMA if you find the problem consistent.

It might have been due to an overheated GPU, which can harm it. Consider using a different GPU if available.

Furmark isn't meant for extended use, and using it for long durations may harm a GPU.

Another old GPU by people using Furmark, nothing new. Please cease using that software. Consider 3dMark or Heaven for performance testing.
