Hello! I just upgraded my setup with a z390 motherboard from Asrock and a 9600k processor. I’m curious if a small overclock would boost performance without risking damage, especially since my cooler (Cryorig M9) isn’t very strong. What settings should I consider for a safe but noticeable increase?

If you're using an Nvidia GPU, I suggest checking out the Ultra Low Latency Mode. You can find it in the Nvidia control panel under 3D settings, specifically in the latency mode section. For a 9700K model, it reduces CPU usage slightly and prevents full CPU spikes, though it's an 8-core processor. It's unclear how it will perform with a 9600K model, but you can test it. The Ultra Low Latency Mode may also cap your frames by about 5-6 fps below your monitor's refresh rate—around 137 fps at 144Hz.

MCE clearly boosts my results, though it causes a significant rise in temperature (58°C versus 82°C). Is it possible to turn it on and reduce the CPU voltage a bit?

Typically it establishes an automatic profile. You might attempt to configure it like mce and then adjust the lower voltage.
