Hey! My build was complete two days back, but I’m still stuck on this problem. The manual for my motherboard doesn’t help much, and no one online seems to have faced the same issue with this setup. After turning it on, the CPU light started flashing repeatedly—endless. I’ve tried everything except re-seating the CPU, which makes me really worried I’ve spent a lot of money without fixing it. Here are my specs:
- B450 Tomahawk Max II board
- AMD Ryzen 5 5600X with stock cooler
- RAM in the HyperX Fury line (uncertain)
- EVGA GeForce RTX 3060 GPU
- MSI MPG A-GF 850W power supply

It’s frustrating!

Check if the case indicates Ryzen 5000 compatibility; otherwise, upgrade the BIOS.

The box indicates the Ryzen 5000 is ready, confirming it's not the problem. Apologies, I should have mentioned that earlier.

Initially, the 5600X runs Zen3, but many boards still require a BIOS upgrade. Recent experiences show that updating the BIOS resolved issues for several users. One person opted for a new build with an Asus board after MSI support didn’t address their needs. Prior to this, they faced problems with a B450M Bazooka board, though opinions vary on whether B450 works with Zen3. If your board can handle USB BIOS updates, you don’t need a CPU for that step. Otherwise, ensure your processor matches the supported frequency. RAM compatibility is another concern—some users report issues with Corsair and Ryzens, preferring Crucial Ballistix. Always verify that the RAM speed matches both the CPU and board specs, choosing the lower of the two limits.

It’s surprising that my motherboard can handle USB updates, which gives me some hope. I’m not sure what the ideal method would be, but I’d appreciate your advice on how to proceed. It’s definitely outside my usual experience.

It’s a high-end model, so it must run smoothly with a Ryzen 5000 processor.

Based on my observations, MSI doesn't seem to have accurate information about their products. They initially claimed my B450M Bazooka could run a 5900X after a BIOS update, but later warned that the same update might damage the board once I added a 5900X. After that, the board wouldn't recognize the new GPU and needed a return for warranty because it would shut down post-upgrades. I chose Asus instead of sticking with MSI following that experience. While BIOS updates for Zen3 are possible across brands, the 5600X uses a 65W chip—this board might work if it stabilizes, but I wouldn't risk using a 5800X version. I retained the CPU mainly since removing the fan was difficult without taking out the entire board, and there’s no reaction when trying to flash the board. I’m uncertain about the best course of action or whether it’s safe to shut it down.
