Hello, I'm a Windows 7 PC user who recently found out my product key is activated. Now I'm worried about the authenticity of this key. I tried using the command line tool and opened a new window, but I don’t understand what information it displayed. Could you assist me in clarifying this?

With free keys, you can usually put the software on but can't turn it on. I'm familiar with this—used one during an XP setup before discovering a copy in my dad's drawer. However, activation usually removes that possibility.

I can turn on Windows. This key probably isn't real. What might change?

It seems the message might need clearer wording. The core appears to be real, but phrasing could be improved. If unsure, Microsoft may display a warning about software piracy.
