Hi everyone. I recently purchased a LGA 2011 Chinese motherboard about a week ago. It came with a BIOS admin password, but I realized it after buying. I wanted to reset the password because typing it every time I booted my PC was frustrating, and there was no option for that. So I changed the settings in the security tab to 'system optimized defaults' and 'default security settings'. After rebooting, I got the same "ENTER PASSWORD" screen, but this one had green lines and question marks around it (see picture). When I entered the correct password, everything worked perfectly. (There are also some text images, but they’re hard to read. Picture related) I’m unsure what to do next—reversing the CMOS didn’t help, and there aren’t any CMOS pins left. Also, I disabled the Intel ME subsystem and thought nothing would happen. Please help me before I consider giving this board away!

Check for any standard bios credentials available online. It seems you may have accidentally reset everything, possibly reverting to a default password you need to locate or lock permanently. Consider reaching out to the seller; if you can't resolve it, you might need to replace the board entirely.

It doesn’t seem to exist anywhere. The board isn’t branded but shows a “Machinist” logo when powered on. They don’t offer these boards for sale. This might be typical for this Chinese motherboard model. I haven’t faced such issues with BIOS settings before, and it’s definitely something to consider if possible.

Reach out to the seller; if they can't assist, it's probably a custom setup with the board and you're in a tough spot. This isn't ideal, but that's how things usually go. Check if you can request a refund or alternative solution, though I'm skeptical they'll help since the issue seems on your side. The only real choice might be getting a replacement.

I really question getting a replacement or a refund since I purchased it from a private seller who previously used it in his setup. However, I might attempt to ask...

When I mention replacement, it means you should purchase a different board yourself. The seller won’t fix it for you. I only recommended the return or refund option if the seller cannot assist you. They’re unlikely to help since the issue isn’t their responsibility.

I own a Chinese motherboard with an LGA 2011 Intel i7 5th gen and a NVIDIA 580 RTX. It turned out to be quite frustrating, so I brought it to a specialist who told me to return it because it emitted five annoying beeps—no signal to BIOS. I kept it just in case parts are needed later, hoping someone like Linus or others won’t buy Chinese motherboards.
