Hey there! I encountered a similar issue where I faced difficulties getting things to function properly or identifying why they wouldn’t. Here’s what I found:

The setup includes an LG UltraFine 4K display with Thunderbolt 3 and a USB-C hub, paired with a MacBook Pro (2018) using Thunderbolt 3. The display works smoothly with normal USB devices through the hub, and it even charges the MacBook—all via the TB3 cable. It also receives video/audio from the MiBook using either TB3 or USB-C 3.1.

However, the display isn’t charging the MiBook. Both devices support PD, but the MiBook only needs 45W while the display can handle up to 85W. I tested with TB3 and USB-C 3.1 Gen 1 cables with PD support, but nothing worked.

I noticed the MiBook has a USB-C 3.1 Gen 1 port that powers it directly from the original power brick, which is fine. The hub and connected devices don’t appear in the MiBook’s list under Windows 10.

The odd part: I used a Philips 258B6QUEB display with USB-C 3.1 Gen 1 support and PD, and it worked perfectly with both the MiBook and MacBook without extra drivers.

My question is: What could be missing here? Why isn’t the LG UltraFine charging the MiBook? TB3 seems compatible with older standards, and power delivery should work. Still, it’s helpful to know what else I might be overlooking. Thanks for your help!

Hi, I checked for answers. The issue with 24MD4KL X2 seems to be charging issues on Windows 10. After searching online, I found a discussion on Linux forums suggesting LG limits power draw to 15W across 3 or 4 profiles.
