Let’s talk through some solid, balanced options for ATX, mATX, and ITX builds. I’ll begin: Asus ROG Strix for both ATX and ITX. For mATX, the same Asus ROG Strix works great.
the only Strix product suggestion is the B550-F. It's mostly inexpensive items relying on branding. You can't just call it "the Rog Strix," there are several... don't misunderstand. ROG releases solid mobos, but none of the Strix lineup stand out. What's the issue with the 5800X? It has an 8-core CPU with upgrade options on the same board. Most users don't need 12, but they can go beyond six. So 16 or 32GB is acceptable, and 1080p or 1440p offers the best value right now. Overclocking provides little benefit instead of just letting it boost in 2020. At least for ATX: B550-F, B550 Pro (Gigabyte) look good, have solid VRMs, and are affordable. M-ATX: B550M Pro (Gigabyte) looks nice, has strong VRMs, and is budget-friendly. ITX: Gigabyte X570-I Auros Pro has a good appearance, solid VRMs, and reasonable price.
I don't perceive the benefit relative to 5600x or 5900x. Which boards interest you most and what are your thoughts on them?
The Strix lineup isn't exceptional, but it functions adequately. It serves as the more affordable choice within the ROG range, avoiding the ultra-low price tag while still offering solid performance. There are several well-made boards available. The Gigabyte Aorous stands out as the most budget-friendly with ARGB support. The MSI Tomahawk provides a balanced overall experience. The Asus ROG Strix lineup delivers comprehensive features and a user-friendly BIOS, making it a strong contender for mid-range builds.
I own a B450-f and it functions perfectly fine. Why is it so problematic? I purchased it during the Black Friday sale last year, likely wouldn’t pay full price now.
They only manage a Ryzen 7, yet they can work with a Ryzen 7. If you're considering a Ryzen 9... why would you need a B450 board?
