Navigate to the game folder, choose Properties, move to the "Security" section, and tap on "Users." Ensure "Full control" is enabled by selecting it or editing the entry. If unavailable, add it via the "Edit" button and confirm in the names field. Click OK.

It's the same issue again; I can't choose the special permission option.

It isn't necessary for verification. Does "still the same" mean the game remains unchanged?

They're having trouble with the security features in some games' disks. It's making it hard to install them properly.

If the game includes DRM features such as those found in *Shudder* StarForce and was launched between 2003 and 2008, chances are it won’t run reliably anymore due to security flaws that affect older Windows versions. For genuine retro gaming, consider setting up a dedicated machine with Windows XP or Windows 98 SE, and avoid connecting it to the internet.

In fact, you brought it up again. SecuROM and SecuDISC, developed by Sony, aren’t compatible with Windows 10. These DRM solutions functioned as rootkits, creating security vulnerabilities and disrupting the user interface. Moreover, the drivers have remained unupdated for a long time. Microsoft prioritized system security and performance over maintaining older titles. If your game isn’t supported, there’s still hope. You can check GOG.com for this classic title. GOG, also known as Good Old Games, is a subsidiary of CDProjekt, the team behind The Witcher series—a group actively fighting against DRM restrictions. They strive to restore vintage games to modern platforms, ensuring the same experience as intended. All their titles in the store are fully DRM-free. Their approach typically involves finding original developers and negotiating with publishers to resolve these issues. They often patch games or use DOSBox configured specifically for each title, sometimes even altering the software to present a seamless, uninterrupted play experience.

Thanks for checking that site, I'm sure they might have the 3-5 games I need. This information makes sense to me and I really appreciate it. You all are great. I'll check it out. Thanks for putting in the extra effort for me!

It's frustrating to find Need For Speed unavailable on GOG.com, and you've already explored various solutions. Switching your PC to Windows XP might help resolve the issue. Consider launching a Windows XP virtual machine inside Windows 10.

We're glad we could assist. Yes, GOG currently doesn't offer Need For Speed titles. I just verified it's still on their wish list (https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/need_for_speed_12345), meaning it will likely be available soon. The process involves coordinating with EA and handling updates, patches, and ensuring the experience matches what developers intended.
