Will you see the changes and should I upgrade now? Current setup: I7 8700k, 32GB, 3000 lpx Vengeance RAM, MSI Gaming M5 Z370, Evga 2080 Ti, W11 Pro. I found a deal on an I7 12700K, Gigabyte Z690 AORUS Elite AX DDR4 for under $500. I might have to skip the new one due to MB's limited USB ports, but the main question is whether this upgrade makes sense right now.

What level of detail do you use when playing games? I moved from a 9900k to a 12900k, which helped my FPS improve, though not dramatically in most games except for checking. My work on the computer also makes compiling code much quicker with this new chip. The exact performance depends on your specific needs and usage.

It varies by game but generally ultra settings at 2560×1440 with 60Hz work well; some titles support 4K as long as frame rates remain around 55-60fps.

I purchased an Inantek PCIe USB card featuring 3As and 2Cs, with a 20GBps split across each 3A/1C configuration for $70. I don’t care about the number of USB ports on the board, just the details.

I believe the current setup works well for you. Are you looking for better performance? That often indicates a need for improvement. If you feel the motherboard doesn’t have enough USB ports, it’s unlikely you’ll find one that meets your requirements—this model offers more than most.

I understand your perspective. At those specifications, any noticeable gains wouldn't appear. Unless you're taking additional steps, I wouldn't upgrade at the moment. Let's hold off until DDR5 becomes more affordable and PCI-E 5 is available for storage. For now, it doesn't seem worthwhile from your side.
