Windows XP scores 10 out of 10 for its era, while Windows Vista gets a 0. Windows 7 earns 9, and Windows 8 is 6. Linux Mint is perfect at 10, making it the best Linux option. Ubuntu is 7—good for newcomers. Lubuntu isn't my thing yet. Elementary OS is 9, placing Linux ahead of Windows and Mac. Opinion only, though.

Despite your request, I’ll still address it because I actually rely on it. It’s really useful since most things function out of the box. You also get two excellent desktop environments—Cinnamon and MATE (I personally prefer MATE). Plus, there’s a lot of third-party software included in the release. Combined with the simple process of downloading packages from Ubuntu’s archives, it makes a strong option.

Mac OS seems like it's around version 7 or 8. Windows versions range from 7 to 10, with Windows 8.1 being the top choice and Windows 8 scoring high. Edubuntu is around 10, though it's moving toward Windows 8.1 soon. Your scores are generally in the middle, with most around 6 or 7.
