Let's assign a ranking from 1 to 10 for each OS.
Let's assign a ranking from 1 to 10 for each OS.
Let's assign a ranking from 1 to 10 based on your impressions. Here’s the order:
1. Debian 7
2. Lubuntu 14.04
3. XP (Windows 5)
4. Xubuntu 14.04
5. Vista (Windows 6)
6. Ubuntu Gnome 14.04
7. Windows 7
8. Ubuntu 14.04
9. Windows 8
10. (No test yet)
Feel free to adjust if you think of any missing entries!
Windows 8 has some issues, but 8.1 works well for me. 8.1 feels much smoother compared to Windows 8. 8/10 for Windows 8, 5/10 for Windows 8.1.
XP 4 out of 10 would become 9 out of 10. One point deduction for clippy.
Have you explored Linux Mint? I've heard it's a solid choice, though I haven't given it a try yet.
Clippy was my fun during my first computer class in high school, something I could have skipped and still got an A+
Debian 7 - No available info
Lubuntu 14.04 - No details provided
Xubuntu 14.04 - No information
Ubuntu Gnome 14.04 - No data
Windows 7 - 6/10
Ubuntu 14.04 - 9/10
Windows 8 - 10/10
As observed, the Linux distributions I’ve tried are primarily Ubuntu and Linux Mint.
Debian 7 - average rating (never tried)
Lubuntu 14.04 - solid performance (8/10)
Used it on my old netbook, performed well as a Windows alternative
XP (Windows 5) - mediocre (1/10) – would be perfect if I had it
Xubuntu 14.04 - possibly used before, not sure
Vista (Windows 6) - disliked (–1/10)
Ubuntu Gnome 14.04 - good (9/10)
Windows 7 - excellent (10/10)
Ubuntu 14.04 - solid (9/10)
Windows 8 - fair (2/10) – works but not ideal
Metro version of Ubuntu - not remembered
Also Vista should receive a higher score than 7 or 8, as it offers a much more complex design. In fact, I personally favor Vista—it’s significantly superior.
Oh wow, I recall Clipy, he was my top friend. From the ones I've tried: Windows XP scored 7 out of 10, Vista 8/10, 7/10 for Windows 7, 9/10 for Windows 8, and 7/10 for Windows 8.1. Linux Mint got a 9/10, Ubuntu 8/10, Lubuntu 7/10, Elementary OS 9/10, and I might give it another go.
