Hello everyone I shared a situation I thought was straightforward yet I received feedback that I’m mistaken. I’m trying to figure out where my reasoning might be going wrong. The scenario is this: We use a specific program on an old laptop from around 2012, running Windows 7 32-bit. Apparently, they can’t get it working on newer machines. I suspect they might have bought laptops with 64-bit processors, which could explain the issue. My logic seems sound, but I’m unsure why it’s not working as expected. Step one: look for a similar machine; step two: clone its hard drive; step three: install the program there; step four: try again. Is there anything in my approach that could be flawed?

It's not accurate. 32-bit programs function smoothly on 64-bit processors. The problem seems more related to compatibility with older Windows versions rather than modern apps.

I’d prefer to obtain the original 64-bit version if possible.

Windows 7 could handle moving to another device, though the outcome isn't guaranteed. It might function, but there are risks involved. A simpler option would be to capture a snapshot of the old laptop's hard drive and use it as a virtual machine for newer systems.

It would be quite simple to either understand or perform.

The cloned version of Windows 7 should function properly. If issues arise, apply the Paragon Adaptive Restore bootable USB and select "Adjust OS" to resolve them.
