Hello, fellow community members. I have a query about my PC. Previously, I had a Ryzen 7 2700X paired with the Wraith cooler, and temperatures would hover around 82°C. During startup they reached nearly 90°C, and recently it failed to boot into Windows. I suspected the cooling system was failing. Instead of replacing the thermal paste, I switched to a new cooler: Coolermaster AIO ML120V2. After installation, idle temps are now about 72°C, and underload tests showed 92/95°C. I'm using the standard boost setting on the motherboard, with the CPU clocked at 4151MHz. These temperatures seem much lower than expected. Did I do something incorrectly? I only used half of the thermal paste provided, thinking it might be too much. I tightened the cooler onto the board carefully. I'm hoping someone can help me figure out what went wrong. I overlooked putting the plastic wrap around the AIO CPU during the initial installation. It might be useful to review that step.

These are your monitor readings from Dragon Center. I also need to run an external fan to keep the idle temperature below 70°F. I tested Hitman 3 with the external fan on and at full CPU speed, achieving around 64-65°C. Without the external fan and when I covered the side of the case, temperatures rose above 73°C.

It won’t change things much, but you should replace that top fan with an exhaust.

That means I’ll have two fans pushing air outward and two pulling it inward? I guess what I read suggested front and top areas should face inward while back pushes air out. If I follow that, would there be less heat near the radiator, leading to reduced airflow around it?

Confirming the setup: front fans intake, upper intake fans exhaust, back fans exhaust.

the system is already limited to restricted flow, making it better to keep that as the sole exhaust compared to three intakes. this approach could help manage excess heat effectively. it’s a simple test that might offer some improvement.

How quickly does your pump operate? It runs smoothly in a standard header, as it’s designed to start faster by default. The 120mm AIO model is also quite affordable—just $20—and easily outperforms many alternatives.

I switched the fan and turned off the external one; removing the side mirror brought it close to 67 or 68 degrees idle. It shows 2331 in the picture labeled "PUMP fan," and the settings are at their maximum.
