Lenovo ThinkStation P520 lacks a screen when paired with Quadro P4000
Hello everyone, I own a used ThinkStation P520 equipped with a NVIDIA Quadro P4000 GPU. After cleaning out the dust, I tried to boot into BIOS to check for display functionality. All connections seemed correct, but there was no output from the screen. The keyboard caps lock and num lock LEDs were functional, as were the mouse sensor LEDs. I’ve verified PCIe x16 lanes, looked for any blockers or errors, and confirmed the P4000 is listed in the P520 specifications. I’ve used it before with other GPUs without issues.
I’m open to the idea that this GPU might not be suitable, but it does display on some other cards I’ve tested. The DisplayPort cable and monitor (LG UltraGear 27GL83A) worked fine. Cards that didn’t show anything: Quadro P4000 (only in P520), GTX 750, GTX 980Ti, GTX 670. Cards that did show display: GTX 1660Ti, RTX 3060 Ti, RTX 2080.
Currently, I’m running Windows 11 Pro with the 1660 Ti installed and it’s functioning properly. This gives me a reference point for troubleshooting. If anyone has any advice or suggestions, I’d appreciate it.
Quadro P4000 is functioning properly in both the x8 and second x16 PCIe slots. Updated drivers were applied and a firmware patch was installed via Windows Update. Ongoing testing will continue. This should assist those reading this. I’ll indicate it’s resolved.
