Hello! I bought a Lenovo CE0128TB switch with 24 gigabit ports and 4 x 10G connections to upgrade my previous Netgear setup. It’s a solid choice for boosting my lab’s bandwidth. However, I’m facing an issue: I can’t sleep because the fans are too loud, even from across the room. The house is made of concrete with soundproof foam, but the noise still penetrates. I’m considering swapping out some fans, but I’m not sure if that would help. I’ve thought about replacing certain units, like the Avc Ds04020b12s, but I want to confirm if this approach is feasible. Anyone have experience with similar setups? The switch supports up to 30W max power, so it’s possible, but I need advice.

It really comes down to what vibe you're after. If you're after silence, running it without any enclosure and using a 120mm case fan should work. For a more extreme setup, watercooling is an option—some people even used an overheating HBA with a big reservoir. A solid approach would involve custom water blocks, careful mounting, and dealing with all the small tweaks along the way. I tackled something similar by placing speakers everywhere and streaming chillhop nonstop. As for swapping fans, it’s possible if they’re standard size, but you’ll need to verify cooling capacity and possibly measure chip temps. If everything checks out, adjusting resistors or clocking fan speeds could help. Ultimately, the best path is experimenting and testing performance.
