Legion Go S - Z1 Extreme - Overpriced at Best Buy
Today the Legion Go S, Z1 Extreme version, will be released instead of the inferior Z2 Go. The Best Buy website has only occasionally offered the preorder option and often just says "Coming Soon." It seems they are holding off until now to target the scalpers. Since tomorrow is a holiday, nothing will be shipped. When asked about this, I was told my pre-order is essentially a "paper pre-order" with no warehouses involved. This isn't really about the product but about Best Buy's overall performance as a company, which has been declining for years and keeps making mistakes. Is anyone still using or even preferring to use them today? For me, it's just a last option.
my local stores are getting worse with each visit. nothing is available on the shelves, and when you ask about stock, they just direct you to the website to check what's in stock??? i only go there when i really need something and can't wait for delivery. that means they must have it in stock already. their pc parts selection is poor and the prices are too high.
Sadly that's the situation. Most services don't allow pre-orders and aren't even listed on popular platforms (yet). It wasn't Amazon or Microcenter—it was just a matter of necessity. They claim they offer two options, but I'm not sure what they mean. My frustration grew when they stopped supporting high-tier memberships and removed points entirely. Their price match policy is limited to certain thresholds. This is really annoying. I just wish I could avoid working from home again after the office.
It wouldn't come as a big shock if these were affected by tariffs. I saw the MSI claws priced higher and there was nothing available.
I noticed that too, although I managed to avoid a hit even with the latest 8AI+ Claw. The only items in good supply are the original LeGo and Ally/X, which would be considered surplus, while the newest versions are being kept in reserve.
Confirmed again.
Just received an email saying "In the unlikely (...mhmmm) event it doesn't ship by Sunday we will refund you." Oh, come on, you don’t have anything and want me to give you your money back? How original.
No way to refuse or wait.
I suspect there might be a second price hike or maybe there was never any stock available.
I'm probably thinking about switching to an 8" screen because of the display size.
I've had an Ally before and it worked well, but if I upgrade, I'd prefer something similar in dimensions.
I've been looking into getting a new Claw when the sales came around, but it doesn't look like that will happen soon.
So I think I'll hold off until most of the Z2 models are available and see how Celestial in PTL performs.
I wasn't informed about your message for some reason. There are several factors to consider. Firstly, Asus often feels like a lottery; most items sold have occasional problems, especially with the original Ally burning SD cards and the AllyX experiencing similar failures. Secondly, the screen seems to be affecting performance. I prefer my original size, though it might just be slightly smaller than the AllyX, but I can't change it now for the original model. Lastly, the additional RAM is still uncertain—will it be 6400MTs like the Z2 Go or adjustable to 7500MTs like the original? With an extra 8GB total, and 16GB reserved for the OS, it seems like a reasonable balance.
In fact, another point: the game is Steam Certified and supports Windows, giving me flexibility without needing unofficial modifications. Regarding the Z2, all reports so far suggest only minor differences, mainly in battery life. Performance remains marginal. Given the uncertain situation in the industry, I wouldn't want to risk being disadvantaged or competing against those who are unaware that the only real improvements depend on it being marketed as a 'next-gen chip.'
For the other two individuals who pre-ordered, please check your emails. Best Buy sent me a $50 gift card and extended the preorder period.
The quality control for the hardware remains a concern for me. Particularly regarding how warranty matters for me and what other sources have confirmed.
The Ally(X) is a good and pleasant machine, provided you're lucky.
My Strix Laptop is similar—just a bit of luck saved me from a problem where the liquid metal wasn't applied correctly. I had a batch that was a later model but still one of the best. The chances of winning twice are against me.
