Legacy Xbox devices experiencing issues.
I own four Xbox controllers—two newer models with a 3.5mm jack and two older ones from 2013 that lack one. After formatting my PC, I installed the official wireless adapter. Since then, the two older controllers without jacks still won’t connect properly; they briefly link for a few seconds, but then disconnect immediately. Even when plugged in, the issue persists. People suggest trying a different connection, but the problem seems tied to the USB ports on those older devices.
It’s clear these batteries tend to degrade quickly. Trying fresh ones and letting them rest before use helps. Also, re-syncing them can extend their life. If the pins are damaged, reshaping the port with needle-nose pliers often works for me. You can reach the port by taking off the face plate, then the middle piece that covers the home button, charger port, and secures the sync button and bumpers.
I attempted to use the same batteries for both controllers, but it failed. I also tried re-syncing them, which didn’t help. One pin was completely damaged, so no progress there. The other might still work if something else is needed, but none of the pins seem broken—just the connector fits properly without doing anything.
Hold it in a specific position and consider trying another cable if needed.
I've tested various cables, including a brand new one that came with my headset. I moved it frequently, but it still doesn't connect. My thought is the connector might have been completely torn off from the board, as it seems slightly bent.
