LED on CPU turns red when using the MSI motherboard.
Hello, new builder. Your computer started working well after you finished it two days ago. This morning it ran for about ten minutes before suddenly stopping and not turning back on. The red CPU light on the motherboard was on, and all fans were still spinning. After switching off power and checking the connections, everything seemed fine. When you turned it back on, the red light stayed lit. After waiting a minute, it disappeared and started working normally again. Right now it looks like there are no issues, but I’m concerned about future problems. My main worry is the cheap off-brand cable extensions you’re using. Could those be causing the problem? If they’re faulty, would your processor already be damaged? I have a Ryzen 5 3600 with an MSI B450 Tomahawk Max. Looking forward to your advice. Thanks! Jack
I faced an issue with the pins in the 24-pin connector getting wider over time. This led to random shutdowns and occasional failure to power on. Removing the extensions often resolved the problem. Typically, such shutdowns are caused by overheating or power delivery issues.
This seems to refer to a pre-build scenario where the idea might relate to using modular cables.
He noted they were very inexpensive, which alone doesn't clarify the problem, but eliminating them as a likely cause would be a solid first step. The CPU Debug LED suggests an issue between the CPU and motherboard, while the cables offer a more accessible starting point; power delivery remains a key concern.
It seems like you're noticing "off-brand cable extensions." That could be a contributing factor.
Thanks to everyone for the feedback. I removed the cable extensions about five hours ago and everything worked well afterward. Last time I was planning to buy them for $15. It’s my first time, so it’s comforting knowing my system is stable. I’ll keep an eye out and update if anything changes.
Thanks, Jack
Hello, I've returned and the issue is recurring:/ After waiting a few minutes, the PC won't start. It shuts down unexpectedly, and the red CPU indicator stays on. A friend suggested updating the BIOS. My system runs a Ryzen 5 3600 with a 3000 series motherboard. Is it still necessary? It worked fine for two days already. Any other advice would be helpful.
Thanks, Jack
