Hello everyone, I’m seeking assistance as I’m facing some issues. My brother built a computer that functioned for about a month, but then the video output stopped. The motherboard LEDs usually light up during boot, yet the CPU LED stays on when trying to start. The fans spin but the RGB display remains off, only flashing when the power switch is flipped. The system details are: CPU i5-12600KF, motherboard Gigabyte Z690, DDR4 RAM (2x8GB), 3200 CL16, storage Kinston 1TB M.2 SSD, power supply Cooler Master 550W. I’ve tried replacing RAM one at a time in all slots, including the 8GB sticks, reseating CPU and GPU, rechecking power cables, and switching to a less power-hungry GPU (GTX 950 2GB). I also updated the BIOS to the latest version. Please help me out! Thank you!

Probably a faulty CPU or motherboard. If you can, swap the CPU to another board or another CPU on the same board and see what happens. If it works, the original one is likely the issue. If not, the board itself may be defective. Power supply problems are also known to cause these issues. You might want to disconnect the PSU from the motherboard and test its voltage output using a multimeter. There’s a straightforward way to remove it for testing.

I've also attempted that, but I'm going to try a completely different battery now.

Have you found another processor you'd like to evaluate?

I don't own a 12th generation system since my personal computer is an 8th generation. I'll test another power supply and if it doesn't work, I'll take it to a shop for testing.

The issue has been addressed. Could you share the details of what caused the problem so I can help you with a similar one?

It turned out to be fixed, thank you for bringing it up. The CPU stopped working unexpectedly, but the shop returned it to Intel and we received a replacement. Hope this resolves your issue.

Thanks for your reply. I already identified the problem and it seems my PSU was faulty. Still really thankful for the update! It could be useful for others later on.
