LED indicator on the motherboard during startup attempts
Setting up a PC for the second time is challenging. Everything seems put together, but when I power it on, a red DRAM indicator lights up. Some online advice suggests a RAM issue. I double-checked the sticks and even swapped their positions. Testing each one individually didn’t help. When I press power, the GPU light flashes red briefly before only the DRAM light appears. On the 7900XTX model, there are three 8-pin connectors, but I only connected two (confirmed by the helper). I’m unsure if that’s an issue. I used two PCI-E cables, paired the GPU with its 6+2 connector, and connected the PSU with its 7-pin setup. My build details: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/y8JBv4
Relies on the specific card; some may function with just two of the three connectors, while most require all three connected. You might use the pigtail connectors from the PCIe cables if available. Regarding the issue you're facing, if you've already checked each stick in its slot, consider updating the BIOS to rule out a faulty factory version. If that fails, remove the CPU and reinsert it carefully, inspecting for bent pins. Should none of these steps resolve the problem, it likely points to a dead component—especially the motherboard, which you may need to replace if possible.
