LED indicator on motherboard
Hello! I was assembling a PC with my brother for him, and he wanted to upgrade the CPU, RAM, motherboard, and cooler. He picked the 7800X3D and GIGABYTE B650 EAGLE AX. During assembly the red light activated. We were using the Kingston FURY beast DDR5 6000 2x16GB CL40 (PCPARTPIKER link). The part picker said it was okay but it didn’t install properly. Since we didn’t have any other DDR5 RAM on hand, we finished the build without it. Now he needs to purchase new RAM and we just want to verify if the new ones will work. Here are the links. I double-checked from the Gigabyte memory support site, but I’m just asking to be sure.

Which one should we check? There are four debug LEDs on the motherboard, and how long each stays lit reveals issues. The lights turning on is typical as they show which part of the POST process the board is using. Staying lit for more than a minute is unusual. This setup should have worked fine. The CAS latency isn’t precise enough, so performance wouldn’t have been outstanding, but it should have started up at least. Avoid the first one—it reacts too quickly. 7200 technically functions on that board and processor, but due to the AMD memory controller’s behavior, it runs slower than 6000 CL30 in every aspect. The second unit is acceptable; you might find a cheaper alternative that works just as well.
