Hello, I recently upgraded my setup from a 5800x to an 5800x3d and my GPU from a 6700xt to a 7900xtX. My motherboard is an MSI B550 gaming plus. I swapped out the CPU and noticed a steady white glow on the debug LEDs. I thought updating the BIOS was necessary, so I disconnected everything except the motherboard and CPU power. I downloaded the latest BIOS (7C56v1F) and used the BIOS flash button on the motherboard back. There were some problems, but after rebooting, the red bios flash light blinked twice. I reinstalled the 5800x3d and it’s still showing a solid white light. The CPU is brand new. Any advice would be great!

Insert your old CPU and GPU, check for functionality. If not working, re-flash the BIOS.

As you mentioned, it wasn’t starting. I re-flashed the system using the newest BIOS, and it worked. The CPU light remained white, indicating the old processor was still active.

Confirming the bios flash succeeded and checking if the system restarted post-update.

It actually restarted right after the BIOS flash. I turned off the PC and inserted the CPU, but the CPU light stayed white.

I'm in an unusual situation. My BIOS update made the white light switch from CPU to DRAM, but adding any RAM brings it back to CPU. I own several different RAM sticks and have tested them all. I've also used my 5800X and X3D, yet the outcome remains consistent.

I've removed the CMOS and will begin fresh with flashing, hoping it improves things. If it doesn't work, I'll think about getting a new motherboard.

Couldn't get it to function properly, so I placed an order for a replacement.
