I really hope my comment comes up again in three years! You're dealing with the same problem (still unsure if that green indicator should stay). Using my display port from the GPU into the monitor doesn't work. Switching to HDMI from the GPU keeps the white VGA light on during startup. I'm also noticing the GPU fans stop working after a short time—am I on the right path, or is this a different issue altogether?
It's mid-year 2022 and I'm the newest person to benefit from this great fix. Got approval for a blank screen on an X370 Strix with a 1700 + RX480 setup and a VGA+DVI 1080p monitor (via HDMI-to-DVI converter). I've tried many approaches before this one worked – countless attempts failed until now! I swapped out my old 750ti, replaced the 480 port with the 750ti's VGA output, and connected it to the monitor. The BIOS is working now! Thanks a lot – Byrophy!
I appreciated your help in 2023. You helped me save time and possibly money. The summary is: I upgraded the PC's RAM, but it didn't perform as expected. BIOS reset to defaults, GPU image loaded via DP, monitor connected through HDMI. Motherboard displayed a green light and restarted. I disassembled most parts, but only using DP connections worked. Eventually lowered RAM frequency to a stable setting.
System details: ASUS TUF Gaming B550M-Plus with Ryzed 9 5900X, 4 x Kingston Fury RAM, ASUS RTX3600 GPU, Samsung 980 Pro M2 SSD (plus other components like SSDs, sound card, etc.). Thanks a lot!
