Hey everyone, I'm trying to run a Ryzen 3700X on a B450 Tomahawk with two 8GB G.Skill Ripjaws modules. From what Thaiphoon Burner said, they're Hynix C dies, but I might be mistaken. Could you confirm my DRAM calculation against his report and double-check everything? Also, should I set the clock speed to what I want to overclock to or to the base/advertised RAM speed? Hynix CJR offer excellent performance; configure the XMP speed according to your system's rating, rather than adjusting it based on personal preference unless you exceed the DRAM Calculator's recommendations. Additionally, choose profile version V1 instead of manual settings.
You may increase frequencies, though higher ones need more relaxed timing. Both settings and speed will enhance your output, but I suggest using 3600 and reducing timing to CL18. I haven’t verified this yet, but 3200 CL16 works well. For Ryzen 3000 models, 3600 is ideal since it supports the full infinity fabric rate of 1800MHz if you maintain the standard 2:1 ratio. You can separate the infinity fabric from RAM speed for better performance, though sticking to 2:1 is usually best (adjust in BIOS). Credit: HardwareLuxx
Just set it to 3200 and switched to V1 per Mathieu's advice. Any further adjustments?
Run Typhoon Burner to generate the HTML report of your RAM modules. Launch DRAM Calculator, import XMP data, then choose 3200mhz and Profile V1. Press FAST settings and either print or capture all timing results from the DRAM Calc tool. Restart your PC and enter UEFI by pressing Delete immediately after the boot screen appears. Navigate to the Memory timings section and input the timings and sub-timings provided. Set VDDRA and V SOC according to the software instructions. Save and exit. Download Prime95, verify the stop-on-error option, and run it for 15 minutes. If no errors appear, the system is stable; otherwise, it may not be. Edit: Use FAST preset—CJR chips perform well with speeds above 16-18-18-19-36.
Focus on the results right away. Prime 95 tends to strain the CPU and cache more than the memory. Run a full system memory test—it will fully load the RAM. Linus suggested letting it run for a minimum of 24 hours, but I feel that’s an obsession. I’d say at least an hour should indicate stability.
