Learning to OC, I need help.
I am preparing a new gaming setup in about a month or two. My goal is to unlock the i5 6600k and boost its clock speed to 4.0Ghz. This is my first time overclocking anything, and although I’ve looked through many discussions on voltage, multipliers, and stability, I’m still unsure about the actual process. I plan to use the MSI Gaming Pro carbon MMO, two 8GB G.Skill 2400 DDR4 RAM modules, and an all-in-one cooler from Thermaltake. If you have a detailed, step-by-step guide, please share it with me. Thank you.
To achieve an overclock, set the multiplier to 35x and voltage to 1.0v, then attempt to boot into Windows. If it works, perform a stress test to verify stability. If issues arise, increment the core voltage by 0.025v and retry. Keep adjusting until the system remains stable. Maintain temperatures below 80°C during testing; aim for low 70s if using continuously.
