For 3200MHz, get 3200MHz RAM. Your board is DDR3 and can't handle that. Got it—no way.

What exactly is going on? The way RAM is usually labeled is based on industry standards, not raw speed. If a chip can handle 3200MHz, it’s marketed that way. Sometimes people try to boost the clock even more, but it’s limited. If you manage around 2400MHz and still get 3200MHz performance, they’d have advertised it as such from the start. There’s no magic here. The core frequency is determined by JEDEC standards, which most chips use around 2666MHz. Going above that is essentially overclocking, which XMP handles. RAM doesn’t automatically run half its speed unless XMP is active. DDR stands for double data rate, meaning two transfers per cycle. For example, a DDR4 3200MHz chip actually operates at about 1600MHz internally. Companies choose the 3200MHz number to be more understandable for users, even though it’s technically a higher figure than what the actual speed is.

I'm really sorry to hear that. You were expecting a more complex setup, but it seems the device works perfectly out of the box. Could you clarify what you meant by "change a few settings" and why you're not seeing the expected performance?

The provided timing is based on the standard clock defined by JEDEC. Enable XMP if available to achieve the actual rated performance. Some CPUs/boards don’t support this, which might limit reaching the full speed.
