I received this outdated device from my previous ISP. It's a VSol 2 built into a single router and ONU. I'm attempting to configure a PPPoE connection using the credentials provided by my current ISP. I've tried the same setup on my new Neti router, which functions correctly. I suspect I might be misconfiguring this VSol unit. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Your institution supports running your own router. The PPPoE login details from your previous provider won’t apply here. Make sure the router’s WAN connection is set to DHCP so it receives an IP address from the campus network.

Yes, it functions properly.
It isn't from my previous ISP; this one is from the new provider. I tested it with my new neti router and it worked well.
I'm not attempting to connect to the university network—I'm getting a separate link instead. I'll inform the OP to resolve this.

Yes, there is an independent connection outside the street.

You're asking about sticking with an outdated method rather than adopting a modern solution. Are you aiming for a specific outcome with this setup?

I’m considering switching to this VSOL 2 model instead of your Netis router and ONU combo. I’ll return the Netis unit to my parents and want to confirm if it’s a viable option.

The TR069 connection profile shouldn't have any changes made. This is the ISP's method for accessing your ONT. IP settings should be configured as DHCP on this link. Find a different profile such as "Internet" and you'll need PPPoE credentials there.

Generally, when the system is turned on, the ONU serial number is logged by the ISP or telco, and just their assigned number is allowed to link to the PON.

You should reach out to your internet service provider to request permission for the ONU device.
