All very true, but my point overall is that this is not "not a big deal". It should be a very big deal, but no one seems to understand that, or care.
Many people aren't aware of this. In reality, most don’t even check the privacy options during Windows installation—they just select “express settings.” The problem is, if someone told them their privacy was at risk, they’d immediately demand Microsoft be sued for gathering data, without realizing it was mostly their own fault. VPNs and Tor are unknown to a large portion of users, let alone used or paid for. It’s uncertain whether my data remains private at the end. And some still think watching porn in incognito mode leaves no trace—completely wrong.
