Playing more games increases memory paging usage. Currently I'm using 8GB, with VdPN (dxgkrnl.sys) taking up 6GB. A Reddit thread matches this problem and points to a superuser.com question from four years ago. Both sources note an AMD graphics card, which matches my setup. My hardware: CPU – AMD Ryzen 7 2700 Mobo; RAM – 32GB; GPU – Sapphire Pulse RX570; PSU – Cooler Master MWE 650 WHITE. The most straightforward fix seems to be a reboot, but I prefer not to restart or power cycle. Is this issue normal for AMD drivers or something specific to my configuration?

The shared storage is only allocated, not providing real capacity. There are 12 gigabytes of free physical space available. I wouldn't be concerned unless it leads to issues.

Are there truly distinctions between reserved and used memory? It does lower the total RAM capacity either way. Isn’t it a real issue if I have 12 gigabytes available out of 32 when idle? At that time, Chrome was the most memory-heavy app, using about 1 gigabyte. This is why I upgraded to 32 gigabytes, and while the problem isn’t as obvious now, it still feels like draining a large amount of RAM.
