Layered light
Layered light
I'm really frustrated with the lighting. It's not just on my computer, but also on TVs. When images appear on the screen, I keep seeing multiple layers—lights, shadows, and colored edges. Everything looks like it's stacked without blending. A clear example is in Elite Dangerous. Looking at a star, it's bright, then a slightly dimmer layer, then another, and the color edges are perfectly visible. Is there a better way to blend colors, just like in life?
With a decent monitor, it should work. The problem lies in both the pixel density and the color range. Having more pixels and more colors allows for smoother transitions between colors.
Pre-emptive answer.
If you're seeing color banding as in the picture I provided
@RancidHeart
, there's nothing you can really do about it. There's a implementation flaw, for lack of a better word, with the game's render engine.
