Launching the file explorer options during the Windows startup process
I had an NVMe drive with Windows 11 installed, removed it and began using it on my PC (with a fresh Windows install). Then I replaced the SATA SSD from my PC with one from my laptop (now the only disk there). I considered installing a Linux distribution but tried Linux Mint—it didn’t boot. Instead, I was loading into a file explorer that displayed the SSD as "NO VOLUME LABEL" along with other unclear entries. I attempted Ubuntu and Windows 10, but both kept showing the same boot menu. I’ve tried restoring my BIOS to default, but nothing works. I’m really struggling and need my laptop back in two days for a trip. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I performed a fresh installation several times, but after the system finishes copying files it brings me to this menu screen. My Acer Aspire A315-23 has all drive ports (HDD0 and HDD1) enabled, yet I don’t see any settings to permit or block boot devices. I’m sure there’s a video showing the available options in the BIOS.
I choose the NO VOLUME option which displays the EFI interface. Then navigating through EFI → Boot → bootx64.efi triggers a black screen lasting under half a second with no further action. I return to the same folder occasionally, but it sometimes redirects to another screen. Edited April 22, 2024 by Asc1005
You replaced the old drive with a fresh installation, either by copying everything over directly to the SSD or by wiping the current partition and creating a new one. If you skipped these steps, please do them now.
It looks like you've resolved the issue. The EN_GB download link keeps failing due to hardware problems, but the EN_US version works fine. You're hoping others can help or find a workaround for the US version.
